The web needs your voice and your face.

The tech industry is notorious for having a lack of diversity of visible experts: just look at the speaker line-ups of most tech conferences.

Rawk the Web is a movement to encourage more women and people of color to amplify their visibility and become known industry experts by becoming speakers, published writers, and company founders.

Through letting out our inner rawkstar, we'll change the face of the tech industry — for the better!

What We're Rawkin' About

The mission of Rawk the Web is to provide resources and inspiration to help people to bring out their inner web rawkstar and increase the numbers of diverse tech industry experts.

The Problem

Many tech conference organizers and attendees agree there is a lack of diversity of speakers: both of women and people of color. While some conferences support a proactive diversity policy, the common lament is that the pool of candidates just isn’t large enough to draw from.

We see the issue as a problem of visibility: diverse experts, aspiring speakers and authors, and newly minted entrepreneurs do exist — they just may not be making themselves widely known.

Our Solution

Knowledge is power and community builds identity.

By providing a source of information about increasing visibility in an industry that needs new faces and voices, we intend to shift the demographics of the faces of the tech industry.

By providing a sense of identity and epic purpose, we strive to further create role models whose presence will encourage and lay the path for the next generation of tech professionals.

How We'll Rawk

Our focus will be not on the issue, but HOW to create the changes.
